This weekend, as many of you know, G and I made Turnovers. Who doesn’t love puff pastry? After taste testing a warm one I thought they weren’t as good as Jacobson’s: http://pinetreeappleorchard.com/home.php After they cooled, I just had to have another one. BINGO. I bought my pastry dough from Trader Joe’s which they only carry here during the holidays. TJ’s doesn’t have all of the junk in theirs that other national suppliers do. I actually
cheated let G do the ‘work’, she is really growing up and loves to create goodness in the kitchen.
G is now on the 8-10 year old basketball team. I think she’s in above her head, but it’ll be a good experience for her. These boys are crazy about their hoops, G is wanting to be fair and nice. Jason is going to teach her to be a mean, lean basketball machine. How else is she going to make it through college? Just kidding. Really. Note to self, a faster shutter speed is needed in sports.
Have you ever heard of Aebeleskiver pancakes? I hadn’t either, until about a year ago when I was in Trader Joe’s freezer section. Oh my goodness. I decided to buy my own pan, because if they are that good mass produced, they’d have to be better at home. I finally tried my hand at it this morning. This is the pan that I have: http://www.amazon.com/SCI-Scandicrafts-7-Cup-Aebeleskiver-Cast/dp/B0000DE4Q9/ref=sr_1_7?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1326821263&sr=1-7 They are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Mmmmm.
In honor of my father-in-law’s birthday, we had a great birthday breakfast. ;) Eggs (made with bacon grease–that’s healthy, right?), freshly squeezed OJ, BACON, and multi-grain english muffins without preservatives. Happy Birthday, Dad!
I have put the Omega to the test, it is AWE-SOME. The only thing, so far, that I would change is the small feeding tube. I just made this:
I have to admit, I was scared to try the juice. Then I remembered that I have had my fair share of ‘green drinks’ and this is homemade so it MUST be better, right? OH MY GOODNESS! AMAZING!!!
This is a: Handful of spinach, 3 stalks of kale, 2 green apples (I used Pink Lady,) small handful of parsley, 1 lemon and cucumber.
We often let our cats and bunny hang around in the backyard together, tonight was no different. I heard a loud truck noise outside and simultaneously out of the corner of my eye I saw Gidget–one of our cats and Bucket, our rabbit come bounding up to the back door. I commented to Jason that that was odd, and wondered what was going on. Half of a second later we SAW what was going on. Bucket was MOUNTING Gidget. Poor Gidget. She jumped up onto a chair out of the reach of you know ‘who’ and sat there until I could grab my camera and let her in. I was hoping for a picture…but we let her in too quickly…talk about a ‘point and shoot moment.’ Gidg ran in and hid under the couch. Poor kitty. Needless to say, I gave her some treats and they will NOT be together unsupervised any longer.
